Hall led after the hurdles by two points. Dokter took the lead in the high jump and held it through the shot, the long jump and the 800m, but never by more than 78, and the three of them went into the last event covered by 115 points.
Dokter was above her series after four of the five events and never behind it after any. She opened 8.19 in the hurdles for 1086 points and 16 above the series, cleared 1.87 for 1067 and 38 above it, and put 13.92 in the shot. Only the long jump went the other way, 6.52 for 29 points less than her series delivers, and the 800m answered it: 2:12.27 for 932 points and 33 above the series, which is where the 62 and the personal best came from. The 4888 beats the 4826 she scored at Apeldoorn a year earlier.
Anna Hall closed harder than anyone and started too far back to use it. She was 122 points under her series after the high jump, where 1.84 cost 90 against a 1.91 series mark, and 135 under going into the 800m in third. She ran 2:06.32 for 1019 points, 87 more than the winner took from the same two laps, and came up 28 short. Her 4860 is 144 under the series that produced her best.
Kate O'Connor was fourth after the hurdles and in the medals from the high jump onward. Her competition was the steady one: 18 points above her series in the hurdles, 26 in the shot, 35 in the long jump at 6.38, and 17 more over 800m, against 38 given back in the high jump. She finished 58 above her series on 4839, a personal best over the 4781 she also scored at Apeldoorn last March.
Two more personal bests came behind them, Szabina Szűcs (HUN) fifth 30 above her series and Sandrina Sprengel (GER) eighth 20 above hers, and the largest gain of the competition belongs to Ellen Barber (GBR), tenth and 180 points above her own.
