Enni Virjonen won the women's heptathlon at the World U20 Championships in Eugene on 6 August with 6214 points. Twenty-four athletes started, twenty-two finished.

Virjonen did not lead from the start. Thea Brown was ahead after the hurdles and the high jump, Zola Ndouma-Mona after the shot. Virjonen took the lead in the 200m, ran 23.99 for the fastest time in the field, and held first place from there to the end. Her 13.36 in the hurdles was worth 1071 points, the best single-event score of her seven. Day 1 closed at 3676, seven points ahead of Ndouma-Mona, who did not finish the competition; Uusorg was ninth at that point, 313 back. On day 2 a 6.29 long jump and a 43.65 javelin left her 169 clear of Brown going into the 800m, and 2:17.25 brought her home 253 ahead. Uusorg ran the fastest 800m of the three medallists, 2:13.90 for 908 points, but she started the last event 300 points down.
The winning score is the sixth best Finnish women's heptathlon result on record, behind Saga Vanninen, Satu Ruotsalainen, Tiia Hautala, Maria Huntington and Tina Rättyä, and ahead of Miia Sillman. Nuppu Willman was the second Finn in the field, twentieth with 4947.
