The winner opened 27th. His 11.25 in the 100m was worth 806 points and left him 118 behind Wyatt Hill, who ran 10.72 for the fastest time of the competition. Belo Da Silva was still sixteenth after the long jump and fifth after the shot, then cleared 2.15 in the high jump for 944 points, the best mark of the field in that event, and led for the first time. Mael-Bephassou Lannurien took the lead back with a 48.00 400m and closed day 1 on 4258, 99 ahead. Lannurien extended that to 179 over the hurdles, then threw 35.84 in the discus for 581 points while Belo Da Silva threw 51.95 for 911, the best discus of the competition, and the lead changed hands for the last time. From there it grew: 133 after the pole vault, 219 after the javelin, 225 at the finish.
Second and third were settled on day 2. Mikai Snoek was twelfth after five events and eleventh after eight, 450 points off the lead, before a 70.25 javelin, the longest throw of the competition, moved him to third and a 4:38.53 1500m took him past Adam Juliš for second. Juliš was fourteenth after day 1 and climbed to third, holding off Kilian Trochain by 21 points. The largest day-2 climb belonged to Bohuslav Čertík, twenty-sixth to twelfth. The single highest event score of the competition was not scored by anyone near the podium: Zalán Zemen ran 13.70 in the hurdles for 1014 points and finished twenty-third with 7080.
The women's heptathlon was decided two days earlier at the same championships.
